Discourse on the Origin and Basis of Inequality Among Men (Part II)

Are people born equal and free? The only thing that I can assure you is that they are not one second after their birth. We could be born with different abilities and perceptions and even if we rebalanced the scales again, inequality would spread regarding of everyone’s potential, ambition and will. Seeking a social inequality is necessary for the progress of Humans. It is the skeleton of a just society and should be distinguished from the “unfair inequality” that is commonly rejected. Unfortunately, this one is the most spread and starts as early as childhood and does not stop till one is in his grave.

How can Abdullah be free if the moment after his birth he must swear allegiance to someone who is born with a so-called noble blood or that one of his ancestors was a great man or conquered the country?

Steve is a young mind and a brilliant student but could not go further in his studies because he can not afford the “public” university fees and no scholarships are available. Apparently, the greatest universities are becoming more private clubs than anything else these days.

Mamadou is a quite gifted thinker and writer but forbidden from blossoming because his family wants him to be an engineer; otherwise, they think they would be ashamed of him in front of their pairs because he is also talented in mathematics. What could a man earn from following Ibn Khaldoun, Plato or Karl Marx steps?

Where is fairness and equality when James could not get a job because his dad does not have the same connections as another candidate’s one? What happened to the American dream and the ambition that gets you where you want you want to be?

In the name of what are we reduced to these forms of slavery and fear? What does make it so natural to stop our ambitions at a certain limit and to be only preoccupied by finding a decent job and to worry about what to eat tomorrow and whether prices would increase or not? We lived under these conditions during so many generations that any tiny change or small positive signal from the system makes us believe that things are looking up and that we should be grateful because the situation is better now than before. For years, people kept on blaming their political leaders for their misfortune and let the responsibility of change to the few thinkers (and journalists) that dared expressing their opinions and telling the truth that everybody knows. This behaviour changes the definition of the society from all its constituents into what the concentrated power and the inherited barriers want it to be.

The human being’s freedom is limited in all domains but thinking. Giving our only freedom that distinguishes us from all creatures to a group of people is the greatest mistake we can make. We should not, in any case, abandon it away under the fear of the sound of the whip. Extraordinary times need extraordinary measures and unfair inequality is not enough a human condition to be lived under to be considered as ordinary. Waiting for the next generation to try to change things is not so extraordinary at my point of view. Everyone looking just around his nose or trying to accept and adapt himself to the unequal system is guilty of high treason in regard of Humanity. Take example of the French Revolution, Islamic society after the Prophet (PBUH), the American Independence War, Mao Zedong Long March, etc.  Feeling abused? Free yourself and show the world your vision of the social justice. Unhappy with the system? It is the people who make the law and not the laws that dictate how the people should behave. Imprisoned by the society’ traditions waste? Your ancestors have no right to control your points of view. Fearing the others reaction? If you do not have the feeling of doing something wrong so just go for it. Otherwise, you will always be haunted by questions about what would have happened if you dared what you had on mind.

Maybe you will never last to see the perfect society you always dreamed of, but you will at least have the satisfaction of controlling your life and completely practicing your natural rights. Let the only clashes in our society be the clashes of ideas and opinions. Let the juice of our minds reign over us.

I am preaching the waking of minds and freedoms, not anarchy; the equality and fairness in people treatment, not the shut down of hope for a better and a distinguished position.

you said that “The human being’s freedom is limited in all domains but thinking. Giving our only freedom” are you sure that this is what we have in reality, i think that our thinking is also limited by different section the politic, our religion and also our envirenment even if we wanna break this limite, we don’t have the ability to do it
